SRP

As students return to school, we want to make you aware of the emergency procedures that will be used districtwide.  The terminology many have been familiar with - Level 1, Level 2, or Level 3 Lockdown - has changed.  Prior to a drill or event, we want you to have time to review the terminology that will be used in communication with you.

Iron County School District schools will follow the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) created by the I Love U Guys Foundation.  This SRP is being adopted statewide.

The adoption of an SRP is in compliance with Utah State Law R277-400.  Specifically, the law requires districts to develop prevention, intervention, and response measures; and prepare staff and studenst to respond promptly and appropriately to school emergencies; and protect the health and safety of all students.

Prevention, intervention, and response measures have been in place for years.  However, we believe school staff, students, parents, and the community deserve a consistent approach to school safety and the new SRP offers language that will be understood by emergency responders and stakeholders statewide.

Staff members and students in each school and building in the district are being trained on the procedures.  Throughout the year, schools will continue to conduct drills to focus attention on the protocols for staff and students.
