The team of Ammon York, Braxten Gifford, McKoy Smith and Tel Hirschi came in as underdogs to the Snow Canyon 4×400 team going into the championship race at the culmination of the state championships on Saturday evening. Ammon York started the race for the Reds and ran a strong leg to give the Reds the advantage right out of the gate. At the second exchange from Braxten Gifford to McKoy Smith the Reds were neck and neck with the Warriors at the halfway point, where Smith took the exchange and outran the Warrior runner to take a slight advantage at the handoff to the anchor Tel Hirschi. The Reds bats were hot in game 2 vs. the Sky View Bobcats on Wednesday as they put up 9 runs in the top of the first inning. A HBP, a single by Haylee Campbell and a walk to Shaylee Johnson loaded the bases without an out and Lexi Ludlow delivered a 2 run single to open the scoring. Two quick outs later and the Reds were hoping to deliver a two out rally which they did in a big way aided by some sloppy defense by the Bobcats. A walk to Hayley Ennis and an error on a Mya Bishoff fly ball plated another Cedar Run. Paytyn Houston knocked in two more runners with a single to get the Reds back to the top of the order. Geddes drew a walk and then the big blow came off the bat of Haylee Campbell who hit a grand slam to open up a 9-0 lead before the Reds had to take the field defensively. The Reds would add 2 more runs in the top of the third on singles by Shaylee Johnson and Sadie Parson, another run in the top of the 5th with a 2 out double steal with Haylee Campbell taking home plate. The final 2 runs of the game for the Reds were scored when Lexi Ludlow took the Sky View pitcher deep for a 2 run home run. Sadie Parson managed her way through the Sky View line up throughout the game allowing 7 runs in the 7 innings but did just enough to keep the lead and help the Reds to move on.

Boys Basketball upset bid of Dixie falls just short. The Cedar Reds put up a valiant effort, going toe to toe with the Region 10 leading Dixie Flyers on Wednesday night, leading most of the way. The Reds got out early to a 9 point lead as they were able to execute a defensive game plan to slow down the high flying Dixie squad early. The two squads played fairly even throughout the second quarter as as the Reds carried an 8 point lead into the half. The Flyers came out quickly in the 3rd quarter whittling the Reds lead down to just 2 early in the 3rd but the Reds were able to answer each time the Flyers made a run through the rest of the 3rd quarter. The fourth quarter was equally even matched as each team traded baskets back and forth knocking down outside shots as well as adding old fashioned three point plays. The Flyers took the lead down the stretch leading by 2 points as the Reds had the ball with an opportunity to tie or take a lead but were unable to capitalize. The Flyers knocked down free throws down the stretch to extend that lead to 6 which ended up being the final margin. In a balanced attack on the night Landon Kreitzer led the way with 15 points followed by Boston Garrett's 14 points and 6 boards. Ty Bronson contributed 12 points and 6 boards, while Kandon Coronado put up 9 points. Nate Rogers contributed 7 points with 7 assists, 4 steals and 4 rebounds followed by Stockton Albrecht's 6 points and Easton Albrecht's 3 points on the night. The Reds will play their final regular season game Friday at home vs Hurricane.

Girls Basketball pulls off the Upset of Dixie on Senior Night! The Cedar Reds girls basketball team knocked off the Dixie Flyers on Friday night to upset the #2 team in Region 10 as the Reds used a big third quarter to take a 2 point lead into the 4th. The Reds extended the lead as the defense was able to turn into quick offense with Annalyse Shimada getting a steal and layup and a defensive rebound turned into a run out for the Reds with Kenzie Bird finishing an old fashioned three point platy put the Reds up by 8. with 5 minutes left in the game. The offense went cold for the Reds and Dixie made a run to get the game tied at 39 with one minute left when Mya Bishoff got fouled and hit both free throws to give the Reds the 2 point advantage. The defense of the Reds grounded the Flyers for the remainder of the game causing turnovers and preventing Dixie from scoring for the rest of the game. The Reds used a balanced scoring attack throughout the game as Annalyse Shimada led the way with 11 points, pulling down 4 rebounds adding 4 assists. Kiara Hansen added 6 points along with 9 rebounds and 5 blocked shots. Gabby Gomez, Kenzie Bird, Mya Bishoff and Kianna Warby each had 5 points on the night.
